JRR Tolkien . . provided escape from the mind numbing kult when I was a teen ager, i read the trilogy more than 6 times during HS

My father . . . showed me what I DID NOT want to be when I grew up, a two faced philandering hypocrit witnoid/elder/po/pioneer who instilled in me a feeling of total absolute worthlessness that at 55 I still struggle with every day.

Mrs LoB . . . her unconditional love and support for the last 20 years saved my life and makes me want to be a better man. Yeah I stole that line but there is no better way to say it..

What turned me away from the WTBTS.... PART 1

sigh.... wished i would've introduced myself proper in my first post here, but having the fear of being found out too quickly or not being the right time made me censored myself from revealing too much info.

recently though, i just felt the need to get this off my chest, despite the possible risk of being called out, which several jws in good standing are aware of my exact situation.

i registered at the new site (jw support something) since theres some buzz of this site is going off line, but hadn't received my confirmation email yet.

i've noticed as of late that quite a few people are posting "good bye" threads.... why?.

sometimes people have disagreements or arguments, but does that mean they can't remain friends or talk?.

hell, if i left my wife every time we had an argument, we wouldn't have stayed married through our honeymoon!

it is selfish to insist upon your own rights at the expense of the rights of others.

this is one of the major problems of society today.

and since this board is but a microcosm of larger society . . it is a major problem here as well.

sensitivity to the sensibilities of others goes a long way.

it's a two way street.

this is simon's board . . i have no rights here and I accept that because this place provides something I need/want.

I was thinking more about this and I distinctly remember after president Kennedy's speech to the nation my dad (he was a servant at that time) saying that we would be in the paradise in a month and to pray to be hidden when the nuclar weapons started landing around us. We lived near Pease Air Force Base (a Strategic Air Command Base) in NH at the time. You can bet there were at least a dozen communist nukes targeted for each and every SAC base around the world.

Even at 9 I knew that god wasn't going to protect us if we were at ground zero when the balloon went up. We were f**ked.

I was terrified, I was petrified, it affected me profoundly right into my adult life.
